Introducing Joan Jefferson, President Dragonfly Marketing Strategy LLC

“We are here to do more – to make a difference as life unfolds.”

This quote by Joan Jefferson pretty much sums up the way Joan has lived her life professionally and personally. Joan Jefferson is a highly successful 50Something woman who has dedicated her entire life to helping women feel better about themselves both physically and spiritually. She is also dedicated to helping women look better through nutrition and sensible and safe plastic and reconstructive surgery. I was honored to interview her for our second 50Something Profile. Her story will resonate with all of the 50Something women who are not ready to settle for the ordinary but ready and rearing to create a life of EXTRAORDINARY!

Joan began her early journey to 50Something with an extensive background in sales management and executive recruiting in corporate America. Her background included being a senior sales director for a leading international cosmetics company. Not only did she help women feel better about their outward appearance, Joan was recognized as a leader in that company breaking sales records and recruiting and mentoring over 400 women to achieve financial success. In 1983, Joan applied business and strategic principles she had acquired as an executive to the healthcare industry. She believes these strategies are missing in many physician practices today.

Joan is now President and CEO of Dragonfly Strategy, a media and marketing consulting company based in Houston, Texas. Over the past 30 years, she has been an advocate for women’s health issues predominately in the areas of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Her experience includes business consulting and vision-based marketing strategies along with traditional and digital marketing. She is also a certified Life Mastery Consultant and Coach.

50Something woman are not afraid to make controversial and life-changing decisions when it comes to their career or personal life. Joan is a true 50Something woman. Her advocacy for women is so strong that she recently made a bold business decision that virtually reconfigured her consulting business. Joan left some large, profitable practices to focus on board certified physicians and hospitals with high integrity and women’s health at the core of their practices. She is happier and more satisfied with the clients with whom she now gets to spend crucial time.

Joan is constantly evolving in her business and spiritual life. She says she is allowing the spirit to work and direct her through this phase of her life. This spiritual journey has led her to take 30 years of experience to a level far beyond anything she could have imagined. In January 2014, Joan stepped out on faith and partnered with Maria Todd, a popular on-air talent in Houston, to form “Real Talk-An Insider’s Perspective on Plastic Surgery”.  She founded Real Talk to boost public safety when it comes to women choosing to have plastic, reconstructive or cosmetic surgery.

Real Talk is more than talking about the technical aspects of plastic surgery, it is an engaging conversation that focuses on real life issues. She calls it a public service announcement because most people are not aware of the pitfalls surrounding plastic surgery. She has met many women who have had traumatic experiences with plastic surgery and she feels it is her calling to help them make better choices.

Along with her successful consulting business and show, Joan is writing a book, "Real Talk - An Insider's Perspective on Plastic Surgery".  This book will provide insights to the current trends in plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery and give women, of all ages, real advice about these issues.

In addition to being a successful business woman, Joan is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is married to Alphine H. Freeman III, president and CEO of American Health First located in Houston, Texas. She has four sons (two who are married) and two grandchildren, Sienna and Landon, who are “the absolute joy of my life”. Joan’s favorite past-time is reading and seeking everything spiritual. She also loves mentoring young professionals to be the best they can be.

So to say Joan has lived an EXTRAORDINARY life of service and caring about others is no understatement. She says at 50Something she is only beginning. “It’s as if I’m starting over”, she says. She is an advocate, a mentor for women, a successful business woman, an on-air personality and I’m proud to say, a friend.
